A Study of Comparison of Hemolysis and Susceptibility Test According to Composition of Culture Media in Streptococcal Species.

Abstract
|
|
|
We have studied on the. discrepancies of hemolysis pattern between sheep blood agar and human blood agar and antibiotics susceptibility between sheep blood agar and Mueller-Hinton agar in 93 cases of streptococcus.
The results are as followings
1. Hemolysis pattern between sheep blood agar and human blood ,,agar is identical on 68.8% and non-indentical on 31.2%.
2. Most common cases of non-identical hemolysis are Enterococcus species(75.9%), which reveal r-hemolysis in sheep blood agar but a-hemolysis in human blood agar.
3. Antibiotic susceptibility test shows no significant difference between sheep blood agar and Mueller-Hinton agar (p<0.05).
